About Dr Nicole Phillips

For the past 30 years, Dr Nicole Phillips has run a thriving clinical psychiatric practice, focussing on the special mental health needs of women, whilst, in parallel, running her ever-expanding medicolegal practice.

Dr Phillips graduated from Auckland Medical School, then migrated to Melbourne, where she completed her post graduate studies. After gaining diplomas in obstetrics and family planning , she completed a diploma of psychological medicine at Melbourne University, whilst concurrently completing her Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry.

In her early years of practice, Dr Phillips established and ran an innovative psychiatry referral service for obstetric/gynaecology patients at The Mercy Hospital for Women whilst working on the Mother-Baby Unit for post-natal depression.

Her other special interest is chronic fatigue syndrome, a misunderstood and poorly treated chronic medical illness. From 2001-2013, she was honorary Medical Advisor of Emerge, the association that supports Australian sufferers of CFS, and medical editor of the association’s quarterly journal. During this time, she received 2 awards at Government House for her work and advocacy.

Her medicolegal reports are known for their thoroughness, thoughtfulness and readability. Her assessments are considered and empathic, and provide a safe space for people who may be anxious about the process.

In her independent medical assessments, Dr Phillips assesses any condition that is in the DSM 5 as well as chronic fatigue syndrome.

Dr Phillips only sees female, trans & non-binary clients.
